The STRONG Academy prepares learners to deliver high-quality STRONG classes by combining technical instruction, exercise science, and client experience training. Graduates are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and professional approach needed to teach safely, confidently, and effectively.
Fundamentals
Learners gain an understanding of STRONG’s history, philosophy, and how it differs from traditional Pilates. They explore the integration of strength, endurance, and control to create a full-body, low-impact but high-intensity workout. Assessment requirements include participation, observation, community teaching, a final 45-minute practical class, and an online multiple-choice exam, ensuring both knowledge and competence are tested.
Teaching and Cueing
A core focus is on the Rowformer and associated equipment. Learners practise STRONG’s unique cueing method, combining visual, verbal, and tactile prompts to suit diverse learning styles. They learn to manage tempo, timing, and transitions, introduce regressions and progressions, and motivate members with empowering language. By mastering STRONG’s structured communication system, instructors ensure seamless, engaging sessions.
Strength and Conditioning
The course provides a practical foundation in strength and conditioning principles, particularly progressive overload. Learners understand concentric and eccentric contractions, load management, class formats (e.g. EMOM, AMRAP, dropsets), and how to guide clients towards safe progression. Injury prevention and recovery are also emphasised.
Creating the Experience
Instructors are trained to deliver an exceptional client experience through relationship-building, celebrating success, and personal attention. They learn how to support new members, manage pre- and post-natal modifications, and use studio tools such as lighting, music, microphones, and visual displays to enhance atmosphere.
Outcome
Graduates leave the programme ready to deliver safe, motivating, and memorable STRONG Pilates sessions, blending expert instruction with a client-centred approach that fosters both results and retention.
